Aromatherapy and Massage

An aromatherapy massage is a holistic treatment that combines both massage techniques and essential oils. The therapeutic value of natural essential oils has long been recognised. These aromatic extracts from plants, trees, flowers and herbs have a wide range of medicinal properties in the use of stress and pain relief. A selection of oils is specifically chosen for each individual, reflecting their physical, mental and emotional needs for optimal health, well-being and relaxation.

During massage, tensions, toxins and waste products are released and dispersed. The brain is stimulated to release endorphins - the body's own natural pain relieving mechanism. As blood circulation improves the muscles and nerves are stimulated, digestion improved and puffiness (swelling) related to water tension can be reduced. The immune system is boosted to protect against disease and viral infections. Regular treatment ensures improved general health. Massage can invigorate when tired and promote feelings of tranquillity when stressed. A state of complete relaxation is experienced.

Deep Tissue Massage

Massage using techniques to work below superficial connective tissue, with the aim to release old structural patterns and allow the free flow of nutrients and oxygen in the blood and so to the tissues themselves. Deep Tissue Massage helps to free trapped nerves, oxygenate poorly circulated areas and allows the spine and joints to relax into alignment.  When there is chronic muscle tension or injury, there are usually adhesions (bands of painful, rigid tissue) in muscles, tendons, and ligaments.  Adhesions can block circulation and cause pain, limited movement and inflammation.  Deep tissue massage works by physically breaking down these adhesions to relieve pain and restore normal movement.  To do this, direct deep pressure or friction is applied across the grain of the muscles. This treatment can be beneficial for conditions such as Fibromyalgia, muscle tension or spasm, postural problems and trapped nerves.
